Juliet Senior Prom

Nathan asked Juliet to Senior Prom. We rented a dress from Suzie's Closet. They took pictures by the tech ridge stairs.

Juliet said that dinner was at a fancy restaurant in St. George. It's called Aragosta but it's not there anymore. Too bad because the food looks so good!

The dance was outside the community center where they have peach days and there are great string lights and trees.

Cello Duet

Mikayla is in her second year learning the cello. Sister Lynnette Frost has recently been called as the music leader/coordinator for our ward. She's been recruiting everyone with musical talent that's willing. She found a cello piece for Mikayla and Milo F. to play. They did great!
I say that. I assume they did great. I was not there when she played. We were flying in from the Robotics trip and Maxine took Mikayla and Mark to church. It's fun to watch her practice and she's getting better!

What's up Jacky?

This is what Jack shared in his email. Exchanges:
During this week, I hosted my very first exchanges as a Young Missionary Leader. That was pretty fun. I went with Elder Mukwizwa again which is always a good time. He has a really cool story, and on our exchanges he mentioned that he had just hit his anniversary of being baptized, the end of March 2023. That was one really cool fact about him. We had a great exchange and I was able to learn a lot and also share quite a bit. When we were all done I asked him to summarize it in 1 word and he said "uplifting." That made me feel pretty good about it because I sure was nervous that it would turn out to be a crap shoot.

Anniversary of the Church/Birthday of Christ:
April 6 is a great day. 2 great things happen that day. The anniversary if the Restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Its not official Church doctrine that Christ was born on April 6, but it mentions in D and C 20:1 and in James Talmage's "Jesus the Christ" that Christ was born April 6, so I believe that one. It was just a special day and I took some time to contemplate how the Restored Gospel has blessed my life. Highly recommend that one.

Juliet's Grad Pics

I took these grad pics at white rocks by Snow Canyon State Park. They turned out so cute! The place was crawling with other grads. I kept having to move a little to crop someone out of my shot.

She's so grown up!

I love them!

Sterling Scholar

Juliet applied to be the General Sterling Scholar for Hurricane High School and won! Maxine won while she was at Hurricane too! The high school makes these Sterling Scholar pictures and they go back to the 80s. They never take them down and now Juliet is immortalized for eternity. I love going back to the school and seeing their pictures on the wall.

So now were on to region. When Maxine won General Sterling Scholar, I was amazed at the competition at region. These kids are 17-18 and have really impressive resumes! Juliet didn't win region but so did well.

She had a good day with Nicole (music) and Alicen (math). They didn't win region either. All good. They've accomplished a lot.

Saint Motel Concert

Maxine had tickets to Saint Motel and I was able to go with her. We needed to go up and back but we had a good time!

Waiting to go in.

I brought my favorite earplugs and we were ready to dance and sing!

For fun, I got some liquid death. It's just water but it looks cool. They make the cans look fun so if you don't drink, you didn't have to look like a total square. :-)

It was fun times! Now we just need to drive home. Boo.

The Ear Piercing Movie

Storytime: The kids used to go to Grandma Campbell's house for sleepovers and would watch a movie: The Parent Trap. They would call it the ear piercing movie. Maxine wanted to get a second piercing and asked if Juliet would do it. IN.THE.LIVING.ROOM. With a sterilized needle! So Maxine put ice on her ears and Juliet sterilized the needle.

I made them put a towel under Maxine's head in case she started to bleed.

I tried not to watch. Juliet was a great ear piercer and Maxine said it was fun! It was a good sister bonding experience!

A Rescue and a Rappel

Maxine called me and said that her car had the keys locked in it at the Dixie rock. She was going rappelling with friends and I said I'd be right over. Merril was out of town so I called him and asked what kind of tools I'd need to break into Maxine's car. Mikayla came with. We got to the car, started investigating the best way in, and Mikayla walked up to the back door and pulled. It opened! She was thinking on the way over that it would be funny if she walked up to the car and it opened and she tried it. The spirit was telling her that not all of Maxine's doors lock. So problem solved!

We found Maxine and told her the good news!

Then Mikayla was able to do a rappel. Sweet!

Go Karting

To continue our spring break, Mark wanted to drive a go kart because he was finally tall enough!

Mikayla drove Juliet.

What a beautiful day for a drive!

Dreams came true for this boy!

The Dragon's Tail

The old airport in St. George is now called Tech Ridge because Dixie Technical College is there now. Recently, a set of stairs was installed from the bottom to the top. 333 stairs. It's supposed to be good exercise and I wanted to try it out so I brought the fam.

We made it to the top and didn't even die! It was easier than I thought it would be. There were people on a stroll and then super athletes running up and down the stairs multiple times. We were the former. Up and down once and it was perfect!

A perfect start to spring break!

Mesquite MX Track

Merril made friends with a guy who wanted his son to race motor cross. Mark was on a team with some kids and Merril made a team with his friends. I'd heard about some carvings in Mesquite and wanted to check it out!

They were fun!

Then we got to the track and I really didn't know where I was going. I drove down an aisle of cars and had to get turned around. There were people everywhere and a nice lady helped spot for me because it was tight. Finally found the guys.

And Mark.

That's Merril racing in the dust.

Mark's team won second in their division. It scares me when he races. I just hope he's careful. I don't want him to be too broken before he's an adult.

Jacky in Marikina

Here are some pictures of Jack in his new area, Marikina, with Elder Lozano.

Jack forgot the keys as they left the apartment and had to wait for the landlord to bring the spare. But the spare was at the locksmith's getting an extra made. So they had to sit outside their apartment and wait.

We sent Jack a package around Valentine's Day that had peanut butter, some shirts from Baja, and other silly things like doritos and mike and ikes.

Jack had a dinner at bishop's house and he said he is rich. It was some of the greatest food he's had here, it was so delicious. They had what was called "Boodle Fight" which you just take a table and put banana leaves on it and then on top of the banana leaves you put rice and meat and veggies and then you bless it, and everyone eats until you are completely full. He just used the table as your plate and eat with your hands. It was so good. Afterwards bishop pulled out the Sprite and Coke and then some of the best cantaloupe he's ever had. It was a good night. Great way to end the week.

Jack and Elder Lozano received matching shirts from a member. I love how they say proud filipino on them. lol.

He said he's doing great and he seems to be getting the language down. He did say the area is hard. It's more of a struggle to find people to teach but he's hanging in there and doing his best.
