My backyard forever...

The area by the trampoline is looking well.

I planted a Gala apple tree, which won't produce any fruit for a few years but I guess the grandkids can come pick 'em.

I tend to level areas and then the kids go and make small hills for cars.  *roll eyes, chuckle*  I think they secretly never want me to finish.

Women's Session

Yay!  Another great Women's Session with all the ladies in SG that I love!  We went to dinner at Benja's before we came.

Merril and the boys went on a mountain bike ride in the afternoon and watched Mark that evening.  Great start to roll up to conference!  My favorite!

Hiking Half Dome...

Merril and I have been so busy.  He'd be out of town, then me, then him, etc.  He hiked Half Dome in Yosemite after I got back for SFO.

He took all these fun selfies because I said I miss his face while he's gone.

It looks beautiful...

 and a little scary...

and please tell me you're being safe!!!  Yo man!

Perks of search and rescue...

An older guy got lost on Pine Valley and Merril was lucky enough to ride in the helicopter for the search!  The pilot spotted him but couldn't find a place to land. They landed back at the bottom and Merril and a Sheriff's Deputy hiked up to him and helped him find his way back down.

Odds and Ends...

We got these super cool boots from a cousin and Mark absolutely loves them!  Not sure I love them with shorts, though.

Maxine's swim aide job came to an end and she decided to join the Hurricane High School Swim team.  She said she had a goal to join a team and I think this is a great fit!

I also picked up one of these bad boys so Maxine could start studying for her test to get her learner's permit.  Can't even believe it!

San Francisco Girls Trip!!!

I packed my antibiotics and prepped for our girls trip!  Jean and Mom drove to Jess' house and stayed the night but I wanted one more night of good rest in my bed.  Then I took the shuttle down in the morning.  We met at the airport and flew to SFO.

We took a train into San Francisco and went to our hotel.  We didn't think it was very far and decided to walk.  It was a little over a mile.  I managed okay.  My lungs capacity was a little weak but it was good.  We checked in and went to dinner.

The next day we went to Alcatraz!

That place is cool and a little scary.

Our tour took us to Angel island as well.  It was an island with some buildings on it but nothing much to write home about.

The next day we rented electric assist bikes and biked across the Golden Gate Bridge!  Well, first we stopped at this cool architecture place that I'd seen in a movie called "The Rock."  It's called the Palace of Fine Arts.  It has this cool dome.  I really liked it.

Then onto the bridge!

Mom fell off her bike near here.  She was coming to the top of a hill and needed to stop but the assist kept pulling her forward.  She got scared and tried to jump off and fell over.  Mom was okay, a little bruised but okay.  Her chain was all messed up and Jess and I managed to free it.  Our hands were covered in black chain grease.  We rubbed dirt on our hands and rinsed with some water and to tie us over until we could reach a bathroom and really wash our hands.

We stopped on the bridge.  The wind was whipping but it wasn't too cold.  We saw a sea lion swimming in the water beneath us.

Mom fell off her bike again once we were across the bridge.  We managed to get her to our lunch place in Sausalito.  We ate lunch and walked around a little.  Mom insisted we take the ferry back.

Right outside bike rental return, she fell off her bike again, this time, into traffic.  All were at the top of a hill, where she had to stop and she'd get nervous.  Instead of using the brakes and putting her feet down, she kept trying to jump off and couldn't manage it. :(

The next day was Sunday and JoLyn and I wanted to attend sacrament meeting.  We got an Uber to the nearest chapel and enjoyed and little Sabbath observance.

After church, it was time for the Ghiradelli chocolate festival.  Oh my yum.  I didn't take many pictures of it, just me and this chocolate tart.

After a small rest in the hotel, we took a fun trolley to China town.

I need this hat for gardening!

Poor Mom! She was stiff from so many falls the day before but he carried on like a trooper!

We saw Lombard Street one of the days but I didn't take any pictures.  It was fun to laugh, relax, put my foot in my mouth and know that we'll do it all again in 2 years.  Maxine will be old enough to come by then and she can't wait!

Starting off September with a bang!

Maxine is coming up on her 15th birthday so I tossed her the keys and told her to drive me to Walmart.  It was only a little frightening.

Crazy Mikayla wanted to sleep out on the trampoline but couldn't get anyone to sleep with her.  I said she could grab a sleeping bag and head out there if she wanted.  She totally did it!

I thought about bringing her in but I don't want to crush that wild spirit of hers.  I left the back door open in case she wanted to come in at night.  It was a super pleasant evening and she stayed out there alone ALL.NIGHT.LONG.  There is no fear in that little one.  I wish I had half her guts!
