Juliet Graduation from HHS

Graduation season began with a trip to Coral Canyon Elementary. Seniors were invited to walk the halls in their caps and gowns. I visited with a bunch of PTA moms that I hadn't seen for a number of years.

Then the awards and scholarship night. Juliet is the general sterling scholar, earned a Diamond H award and was student of the year in several categories. Nicole bagged valedictorian! Wahoo go Nicole!

Juliet won a small scholarship from Intermountain Sports Medicine. $300 cash!

Then onto seminary graduation! Juliet has been on the seminary council and was also in seminary choir. Awesome!

Now actual graduation day! We came early to get some seats!

She walked and it was great!

Jeannie and my Mom came to support!

Alicen!

Juliet with the choir guys!

Us girlies!

Lauren used to live up one street. Their birthdays are almost the same too.

Good job Juliet! She has plans for BYU Provo in the fall and a mission next summer.

Tuberculosis 💀

Things were going so well for Jack in the Philippines! This week on P Day, he had a mask on his face when he answered the phone. We learned that his companion, Elder Zabala, was in the hospital and they were thinking it was tuberculosis. Noooooooo! This is not something that I wanted to hear at all. I am not a fan of germs. Jack said he still felt good and that he was enjoying the hospital food. He was able to order whatever he wanted. The bummer of this adventure, was that they didn't think they were being checked into the hospital and so they didn't bring any extra clothes or a change of underwear. Jack had been wearing the same clothes since Friday night. He'd been sleeping on the couch next to Elder Zabala. I think they were going crazy because Jack was asking for any sort of church videos that he could look up on YouTube. They didn't know when they were going to be able to go home but they'd already been there for a few days. The mission nurse came to visit and she brought some garments that they had at the mission office. They only had size XL or 2XL. Jack wears a medium so he's swimming.

This picture is blurry but it's all I got. Hopefully they'll get to go home soon. It seems like Elder Zabala has tuberculosis and so they will have to be in quarantine at their apartment after this. I did receive an email this week from the mission president's wife saying how they were going to test Jack for tuberculosis and get him chest x-rays. They were also going to test him again in 12 weeks. So far, Jack says he feels fine.

Luckily, I had put Jack's name in the temple. I've been praying extra hard that he stays healthy and doesn't have to take medicine for tuberculosis. It's a lot of antibiotics over the course of like 6 months. It is very treatable though so that's good. Any reason to be praying extra hard is a good reason! We'll keep hoping and praying that he stays healthy.

UPDATE: Jack is healthy! His first set of tests were negative for Tuberculosis.

VR to Coastal Redwoods

Maxine is working at Vacation Races this year and she and Merril have started their summer vacation together. This one is called the Coastal Redwoods Trail Fest. Merril will set up radios and Maxine will work the expo. First you have to get there and that takes some driving.

But it's so pretty!

Merril's drinking water from a stream with his Life Straw.

They decided to make a little trip and visit the ocean and San Francisco.

End of the Year

Mark and Mikayla aren't graduating but they're doing cool end of the year things too. Mikayla had an orchestra concert. So fun! Mikayla got a 4.0 all year and perfect attendance. Seriously, perfect attendance? I can't believe that happened, it was not planned.

I pushed Mark to earn a Courageous Colt Award and he did it! This is my last year at the Coral Canyon Elementary. It's been amazing for 17 years but I'm done with this place! I am moving on!

Renaissance Fair

During Christmas, Maxine gifted Mikayla a trip to a renaissance fair. They drove to Salt Lake for it. They got their faces painted.

Tried on clothes. We ended up buying a new dress for Mikayla for the fair.

What a sweet gift for Mikayla. Maxine hit it out of the park.

Tiger Miracles

This is a cool story from Jack's mission! Jack said: "This week we were walking down the road and to my complete astonishment, I saw a man wearing a Hurricane High School T Shirt from 2019. It took me by complete surprise and I stopped him and he must have thought I was crazy because I just said "oh hey can I take a picture with you" and he was all lookin at me weird and I said "That shirt is from the school where I went back in the US" and then he let me take a picture with him which was great."

I feel like the Lord was showing Jack a little love. How cool is it that at that exact moment, Jack would be in the same place as this fellow and Jack would notice his shirt? Wow! The odds of that have got to be astronomical! Godspeed Jacky!

Pride and Prejudice in the Theatres

It's been 20 years since Pride and Prejudice came out in theatres. Megaplex put it back in the theatres for the month of April. We've been so busy and sick that we haven't seen it. We went to the very last show in St. George. It was at 2:30 p.m. on a Thursday. Mark tagged along because he wanted popcorn and candy.

Yay, the long walk! We laughed at the excellent boiled potatoes and giggled at the hand shots. It was great fun! Glad we were able to do it! I have dreams of going to the shooting location for the Pemberly mansion and watching the film. I've heard they show it in the summer. Yay!
