But there were moments of happiness squeezed in between the screaming and meltdowns. King Arthur's Carousel was a big hit.

Jack said the only thing he wanted to do all day was meet Mickey Mouse. I love the look on his face.

I think Juliet's favorite part of the day was devouring half a bag of cotton candy with me while we waited for Merril, Max, and Jack to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
So we did okay. I think the trip would've been better if it'd just been me and Maxine at Disneyland. Jack and Juliet just got too tired.
The kids were worn out after Disneyland and slept like logs. The next day we went to the beach. It was a little chilly when we first got to the beach (probably 70) but the kids forgot about it after a bit. Maxine collected shells and posed for the camera. "Concentrate Danielson!"

When we go back to California, I want to hit Sea World. I remember it being a lot of fun too!

The pic of Jack and Mickey is childhood itself. So cute! My older kids didn't do so great at DL when we went a couple years ago, but Sophie did. She loved everything. The big kids just wanted to meet characters all day. We never did make it to the beach. Next time.
sorry that it wasn't so great for you...we were lucky to have happy kids...
but that picture of Juliet at the beach...that has to make it all better!
sounds like fun...kind of!!! :-)
Next time you are in that area give us a call! We are 20 minutes away from disneyland and an hour from seaworld (and 15 min from the beach) Robert's, Scott's, and our families all have passes to sea world! It's a LOT of fun for kids. Not stressful at all really and the exibits are enough to keep even the little kids entertained for a good 4 hours!
I'm glad someone at least had fun. Last time we went was when J.D. was 2 1/2 and Jake was 4 months. J.D. loved it (but we had to stand in line to see Mickey Mouse twice). I spent a lot of time in the nursing lounge. If you want to go to Sea World, come visit us in Texas and we can go to the one in San Antonio.
Love the pictures! Just think, they are smiling in all of them, so even if you still remember how not happy they were most of the time, they will look back at the pictures 5 years from now and think they had a blast!
I've never been to Disneyland and I don't want to go until my kids are a lot older, or we take some extra help to babysit the kids.
But it is nice that you kept your word to Maxine, even though you didn't really want to.
Your experience makes me validate our decision of when to take our kids. We are going next year. Sam will be 8, Derrick 6, and KayDee 4. Old enough for me to remain sane and they're still young enough to enjoy it's magic.
Glad you had fun regardless!
