Smells like teen spirit...

Ever since I had Juliet, I've developed seasonal allergies. It's an annoyance and I'm rather perturbed that my body suddenly decided to overreact to things like pollen. I become itchy and cough (not sneeze) and have chest and nasal congestion. I take Claritin and Flonase, which help a lot, but I lost my sense of smell around late February/early March. A lost sense of smell comes in handy when cleaning up vomit or poopy diapers but it's unfortunate to be unable to smell bread coming out of the oven, my husband, or sagebrush after it's rained.

So the other day, I was making toast and when it popped, I caught a whiff of warm toast smell and started to cry. I haven't smelled anything for 7 months and the sudden smell of ANYTHING brought me to tears. Since then, I've started to catch other whiffs but nothing on a consistent basis until this morning! I could smell my shampoo (which Juliet calls sham-poop), my hairspray, my deodorant, Merril's deodorant, that funky smell in the basement, and the laundry soap! Hooray! I'm actually a little overwhelmed because EVERYTHING HAS A ODOR!! I've forgotten how much everything smells.

And so I apologize if you've come over to my house this summer and thought, "Wow, this place stinks like garbage." or "Jamie has some really bad B.O. today". Sorry, I just couldn't smell the difference until today and I'll try to be more careful about it from now on!

Congrats on the return of your sense of smell. Also, love the homemade Halloween decorations.

I'm so glad you can smell just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Those are fantastic smells you just wouldn't want to miss.
I had allergies for 2 months this year, and they suck!

I was going to say something...I'm glad it's all out in the open now.
just kidding...I'm glad you can smell again. I'm sure we all take that for granted.
Hey we missed you the other night! But you reminded me that we STILL haven't been to Brentwood Bowl and we love bowling! We should make a night of it sometime.

So I have to say the lazy comment on my blog makes me laugh, your mom said the same exact thing when she was up here, and I am pretty sure that is true! It's the only explanation I can come up with!
