I got up this morning to the sound of children saying, "I'm going to eat the Kit Kat." and "Help me get this wrapper open." So instantly I'm up and putting an end to the sugar fest and start to make breakfast. I decide to make muffins and turn on the oven. Five minutes later, Maxine comes in and says, "What smells weird?" I look at the oven and say, "Sometimes food spills in the oven and then burns on the bottom."
So I open the oven and see gobs of pink plastic oozing. I had totally forgotten that in a rush to clean my house on Friday, I had stuck a cookie sheet and a huge pink plastic bowl in the oven to "hide" it until I could wash it at a more convenient time. Now the pink plastic bowl was melting all over the racks and bottom of the oven. *sigh* Now it's time to clean the oven.
Classic: Mom has her head in the oven.

The bottom totally melted out.

Strings of pink ooze pulled off the rack.

Apple cinnamon muffins in the oven, finally.

Such a bonehead. :)

D'oh!
When Aunt Megan was a pre-schooler she decided to make cookies by herself. She got out a cookie sheet, arranged ALL of her colorful little plactic hair barrettes on it, put it in the oven and turned the oven on. Soon the smell of melting plastic filled the kitchen. By the time I found it there was not a single barrette to be saved. Had to buy some more before I could fix Megan's hair.
Hey, Mom--I was going to tell the Aunt Megan barrette story! Anyway, someone came to look at the house on Saturday with short notice and I put all my dirty dishes in a plastic bag and put them in the garage. :) Luckily I remembered later.
Oh man! You're so good natured about these little mishaps, though. I don't think I would have thought to take pictures, but I bet you and your kids will LOVE these forever.:) Good times.
You are good natured about the mishaps. Perhaps I have to many of them in my life to be good natured about it. If I blogged about them all I'd be a professional blogger (and CPS would have probably shown up by now)!
