Tuberculosis 💀

Things were going so well for Jack in the Philippines! This week on P Day, he had a mask on his face when he answered the phone. We learned that his companion, Elder Zabala, was in the hospital and they were thinking it was tuberculosis. Noooooooo! This is not something that I wanted to hear at all. I am not a fan of germs. Jack said he still felt good and that he was enjoying the hospital food. He was able to order whatever he wanted. The bummer of this adventure, was that they didn't think they were being checked into the hospital and so they didn't bring any extra clothes or a change of underwear. Jack had been wearing the same clothes since Friday night. He'd been sleeping on the couch next to Elder Zabala. I think they were going crazy because Jack was asking for any sort of church videos that he could look up on YouTube. They didn't know when they were going to be able to go home but they'd already been there for a few days. The mission nurse came to visit and she brought some garments that they had at the mission office. They only had size XL or 2XL. Jack wears a medium so he's swimming.

This picture is blurry but it's all I got. Hopefully they'll get to go home soon. It seems like Elder Zabala has tuberculosis and so they will have to be in quarantine at their apartment after this. I did receive an email this week from the mission president's wife saying how they were going to test Jack for tuberculosis and get him chest x-rays. They were also going to test him again in 12 weeks. So far, Jack says he feels fine.

Luckily, I had put Jack's name in the temple. I've been praying extra hard that he stays healthy and doesn't have to take medicine for tuberculosis. It's a lot of antibiotics over the course of like 6 months. It is very treatable though so that's good. Any reason to be praying extra hard is a good reason! We'll keep hoping and praying that he stays healthy.

UPDATE: Jack is healthy! His first set of tests were negative for Tuberculosis.
